Low-Ki vs. Mike Mayhem "Best of the FWA" Order now from Smart Mark Video
April 15, 2000 was supposed to be a huge night for the Future Wrestling Alliance, and indeed it was. On that night, inside of the Citizen's Fire Hall in Palo Alto, PA, a bona-fide legend was set to appear. The term "legend" gets thrown around a lot, but El Hijo del Santo is on a totally different level than almost every wrestler to have ever laced up a pair of wrestling boots. That night he would square off with Mike Quackenbush, rekindling a fire inside Quackenbush that had caused him to retire just one month earlier.
While that was occurring, a locker room full of young and hungry wrestlers realized that all eyes were on the Future Wrestling Alliance that night. An opportunity had presented itself for the first time in many of their young careers and that opportunity was just too much for them to ignore, especially for two young wrestlers by the names of Low-Ki and Mike Mayhem.
Low-Ki was well on his way to becoming one of the most talked about wrestlers on the independents and had already won the FWA Championship with less than 2 dozen matches under his belt. His opponent was Mike Mayhem, a young talented wrestler from the New York area who didn't get much recognition and who wasn't known to those in attendance that night. When these two entered the ring to square off, those in attendance didn't know what to expect. By the end of the match though, everyone in that building would remember this match, a match called by many as one of the FWA's greatest matches.
Low-Ki would of course go on to became a national and international star, while Mike Mayhem would begin helping to train students at a wrestling school in New York that would help launch the careers of WWE stars The Major Brothers and Mike Mondo.
