The Final Countdown
May 16, 2008
Des Moines, Iowa
1. 3XW Cruiserweight Championship Match - Casanova (c) vs. Brady A. Dezire.
3XW Cruiserweight champion Casanova successfully defended his title against Brady A. Dezire. My main man slapped on the dreaded Sleeperhold and it was lights out for the self-proclaimed "Iowa's Greatest Athlete."
Winner: Casanova (c)
With David Andersen recently fired by 3XW President Skylar Pierce, May's edition of "The Showdown" was hosted by the equally cocky Scott Casber. Casber verbally assaulted ring announcer KL Snow before striking him in the gut, sending him to the ringside floor. The Gentleman's Club made their entrance, alongside their French ally and liason Pierre LaDeuce...or so they thought. Once Octane, Sterling and Countryman's backs were turned, Pierre took off his mask....revealing the return of Steve Biley, the former 3XW Head of Security! Unfortunately, the numbers proved to be too much for Biley to handle, until he was saved by Devin Carter, Arik Cannon, Jimmy Rockwell and Casanova.
2. Tag Team Match: Full Throttle & Hunter Matthews vs. Dingo, Kraig Kessaman, & Kyle O'Reilly.
The debuting tag team Full Throttle (Brandon Marino and Aaron Scott) & Hunter Matthews beat Dingo, Kraig Keesaman and the also debuting Kyle O'Reilly. The end of the match saw Matthews and Keesman brawling at ringside while Full Throttle destroyed Dingo with an awesome Doomsday Device-style Diamond Cutter.
Winner: Full Throttle & Hunter Matthews
3. 3XW Tag Team Championship Match: Maddog McDowell & Krotch vs. The Northstar Express (c).
3XW Tag Team Championship - Maddog McDowell and Krotch beat the Northstar Express by countout after Corbin and Cruz despicably left the ring and walked to the back to avoid losing their titles. Following the match, president Skylar Pierce announced that the Northstar Express would defend their titles in a fatal fourway against Krotch and McDowell, Jimmy Rockwell and Ricky Kwong, and a surprise team to be named later at 3XW's 3 Year Anniversary show in July. Corbin and Cruz will miss next month's event due to a previously scheduled wrestling tour of the universe, highlighted by Pluto getting a rematch with Corbin and Cruz for re-entry into planetary classification.
Winner: Maddog McDowell & Krotch via countout
4.3XW Pure Wrestling Championship Match: "Rockstar" Jimmy Rockwell vs. Mark Sterling (c).
3XW Pure Wrestling champion Mark Sterling defeated Jimmy Rockwell with a Markshooter followed by a floatover into the new Gentleman's Stretch submission hold.
Winner: Mark Sterling (c)
5. Singles Match: Shane Hollister vs. Egotistico Fantastico.
Shane Hollister defeated former two-time 3XW Heavyweight champion Egotistico Fantastico in a very hard-hitting, back-and-forth match that ended in controversial fashion.
Before the match even began, Mike Irvine attempted to interview Ego in the ring about his recent issues with Tony Scarpone, only for Irvine to receive a brutal slap to the face that knocked his sunglasses clean out of the ring. An angry Ego called out Tony Scarpone, only to have his yelling answered by his scheduled opponent Shane Hollister.
The match featured wild brawling all over the ringside area, including Ego making running the length of the room and around the ring to destroy a seated Hollister with a flying dive. After numerous nearfalls, Hollister accidently nailed referee Waldo with a running knee to the face, which lead to Ego seemingly having the match won following a Taco Bender. Suddenly, a masked fan from the crowd ran into the ring and cracked Ego with a kendo stick to the head before quickly exiting the ring and being physically removed from the arena by 3XW security and staff, including myself and KL Snow. Hollister crawled on top of the fallen Ego and a revived Waldo made the three count.
Winner: Shane Hollister
6. Battle Royal - Guantlet for the Gold.
Gauntlet for the Gold - The winner and new No. 1 contender to the 3XW Heavyweight title is....The Amazing O-Ring, a.k.a. Commissioner Todd Countryman in a mask. The final three competitors included entrant No. 1 Devin Carter, No. 29 The Golden Marvel (who unmasked after the match revealing Mark Sterling), and No. 30, O-Ring. Carter threw Sterling over the ropes, only for Countyman to crawl in from ringside, sneak up behind Carter and use Carter's own momentum to knock him over the top.
Following the match, President Pierce announced that in June, the main event will be a six-man tag team match featuring Octane, Sterling and Countryman battling Carter, Casanova and Steve Biley with the winner of the fall earning the No. 1 contendership to the title.
Full list of entrants in order:

Other notes:
- Instead of taking advantage of a 4-on-1 situation, Zach Thompson did the honorable thing and decided not to join in on beating down Carter, hitting Dezire instead. Thompson and Ryan Slade fought at ringside following elimination from the match.
- Chad Mylan had to be physically carried down to ringside and forced into the ring. After some self-motivating, Mylan pulled a 180 and yelled out a challenge to everyone in the ring. Every competitor quickly laid eyes on Mylan, who just as quickly threw himself over the top rope.
- Krotch used remarkable athleticism and trickery by outsmarting the Northstar Express, pulling the top rope down and causing Corbin and Cruz to both be eliminated.
Winner: O-Ring (A Masked Todd Countryman)
7. 3XW Heavyweight Championship Match: "Anarchist" Arik Cannon vs. Gage Octane (c).
3XW Heavyweight title - Gage Octane is still the champion after a hard-fought match with Arik Cannon. During the Octane/Cannon match, Arik's silver ball chain that he wears around his neck was ripped off by Octane. Gage(doing his normal I can't win a match without cheating) used that chain to hit Cannon without the ref witnessing it due to the interference of the blonde haired knucklehead to get a nearfall. Gage tried to hit him again only to lose the chain from an awesome punch from Cannon. While Gage was rolling around crying like a baby, Arik picked up the chain just as the ref was turning around from the interference of (soon to be beaten by Steve Biley) Todd Countryman. The ref thought Cannon hit Gage with the chain and awarded the victory to Octane via DQ.
Winner: Gage Octane (c) via DQ
