It was the summer of 2003 and the two most hardcore, ultraviolent promotions in the world were at war. Ian Rotten and a group of IWA Mid-South wrestlers had invaded the ECW Arena during a Combat Zone Wrestling show and attacked John Zandig, setting off a war between the two groups that went on for months. As the 2003 edition of the IWA's famed "King of the Death Matches" came closer, it was obvious that there would be a showdown between the two sides, this time on IWA territory and with the backing of dozens of fans who made the trip all the way from the Northeast to support their CZW favorites.

While the hardcore battles were no doubt brutal, a war was brewing between CZW and IWA's high flyers, and on the second night of the tournament the CZW high flyers Sonjay Dutt and Adam Flash were scheduled to face off against Jimmy Jacobs and Alex Shelley. Before the action could get underway Nate Webb, accompanied by the lovely Becky Bayless, let it be known that he wanted in on the action. His partner? A man who's betrayal of Combat Zone Wrestling was still fresh in the minds of every CZW fan and every CZW wrestler in attendance, M-Dogg 20, who had defected from CZW to compete for their bitter rival XPW.
