PWInsider is reporting that Steve "Dr. Death" Williams has passed away at the age of 49. Williams had battled throat cancer for the last several years and had undergone surgery in 2004 to remove it, only for it to later return.

While Williams was successful in the United States, his greatest matches and achievements arguably took place in Japan, where he was one of the top foreigners during All Japan Pro Wrestling's incredible early to mid '90's years.

He had his last match in America this past August for Asylum Championship Wrestling in Colorado Springs, CO. His final match took place in Japan on October 25.
