Total Wrestling Federation: Commissioner Tara's Disturbing the Peace Preview

This month marks the two-year anniversary of my election as Commissioner. In those two years I have seen TWF grow and flourish. I have been a part of enormous events as well as small altercations that few people noticed, but that had an impact nonetheless. Disturbing the Peace, over the years, has been amongst our biggest and most shocking events. The Natural High made their debut in 2003. SickThrax won the Tag Titles in 2006. The former New Breed split violently last year. There is a chance that this will be the last time I enter the Colonial as Commissioner and I intend for this show to, if necessary, put a cap on my run in charge of the TWF.

Famous INK demanded a re-match with The A-Team last month, which the A-Team was willing to accept IF Famous INK beat another team to earn the title shot. I stretched my brain, talked to everyone backstage and tried everything in my power to find a team to take them on. I couldn’t find a SINGLE team, other than the A-Team, willing to put aside their other more pressing matters to get in the ring with Ashton and CJ Profit. By default Famous INK are the #1 Contenders to the Tag Team Titles, but they aren’t going to just get handed a chance at the titles without a match of any sort. Instead, Ashton and CJ will have to take on each other. Ashton is the clear favorite in a head to head with his protégé CJ. Recently though Ashton has taken to kissing the ass of his partner (Letting him speak for the group, talking him up to everyone and helping him beat legends in online fantasy wrestling tournaments) so much that I would be worried about him just laying down if he weren’t so arrogant. They could try to get around my booking, but I knew that when I chose to have them wrestle that neither of their prides would allow them to roll over for the other. I give the edge to Ashton with his experience and craftiness.

Later in the night, Famous INK will get their title shot. Ashton and CJ Profit beat Rob Banks and Jacc Movez respectively at Sadistic. Of course each interfered in the other’s match to distract Special Guest Referee Anthrax to get those wins, but they were still wins. Breaking down the W’s, Ashton and CJ have come out on top more often than not over Jacc and Rob, including in the Three way Dance for the Tag Titles back at Head on Collision. That finish was questionable since Famous INK weren’t legal at the time and it was unlikely to have happened if Joey Balls had not distracted Scorpion and Michael Nothing, but again a win is a win. The A-Team is certainly the superior TEAM of the two, but Ashton is inarguably the most successful TWF superstar in the match. There is no way to handicap the outcome of this one.

By virtue of the Heavy Hitter’s win in TLC last month, all four members were allowed to pick their opponent and match at DTP. Raz Ryno chose to get his hands on Steel Johnson in s Sac-Town Streetfight. The stipulation doesn’t necessarily favor either man, as Steel is a record holding 5-time former Falls Count Anywhere champion and Raz is one of the most brutal and sadistic wrestlers in TWF history. (I speak from experience) Steel has been tremendous since his return earlier this year, holding his own against the best of the best in TWF. Despite losing last month, Steel won the respect of everyone backstage with his performance in TLC. Still, regardless of his impressive in-ring work, he holds only one singles win since his return and that was over rookie Carnie Craig. Raz has had a mixed year as well. Since leaving G-Force he has had only a few singles matches and fewer singles victories, but all of them have been with top tier stars including his almost unbelievably quick win on Sick Case at Brain Damage. Raz has a slight amount of experience over Steel, due to Steel’s 2-year hiatus, and has no aversion to hardcore. Steel has at times attempted to dodge the more violent of matches while Raz has likely been in more bloody encounters than anyone has. I do predict that we will all see things in this match we never expected.

Morrow’s Mercenaries Lockjaw and Mike Omega won a major victory over The Jake and Ron Rufio at Sadistic with a little assistance from TWF Champion Ekstazy. Rumors of a mutual admiration society between the Million-Dollar Militia and The Mercenaries (Specifically between Ekstazy and Omega) are unconfirmed, but could be disastrous for the rest of TWF if true. The possible upshot could be an end to the Merc’s anti-TWF attitude and to bring them into the fold, but what about the chance of the Militia adopting Morrow’s outsider philosophy themselves? Some of these questions may be answered this month when The Jake takes on Mike Omega one on one for the first time in TWF and Michael Nothing will face Lockjaw in their first ever singles match.

The Jake and Mike Omega are very different competitors. Omega uses a very technical, ground based submission style as opposed to Jake’s brawling backed up with sound psychology. That psychological advantage is mitigated somewhat by Alex Morrow’s presence at ringside. Morrow and Jake’s mastery of psychological warfare, particularly with each other, could keep Jake focused on Morrow and allow Omega to sneak in a surprise win. Then again, Jake will be on the lookout for that exact strategy as Morrow has caught him that way in the past. None of us have much to go on in regards to Omega’s toughness or ability to handle a slugfest of the type Jake is likely to dish out. That makes it difficult to come to any conclusion about an advantage, other than that Morrow is certain to be right in the middle of the fray.

Michael Nothing and Lockjaw are also stylistically dissimilar, with Nothing being the technician and Lockjaw the brawler in this matchup. They were last in the ring together (Other than when Nada broke up the beat down on Jake at HOC) at Brain Damage when Lockjaw and his now retired partner fell short of beating Nothing and Scorpion for the Tag Team Titles. Lockjaw looked strong in that contest, but his team didn’t have what it took to beat one of the best tag teams in years. Lockjaw has yet to win a singles match in TWF, but has come very close in his last few opportunities. This could be his chance as Nothing could potentially suffer a little bit of ring rust after missing last month’s show due to a scheduling conflict. On the other hand, Mikey Nada is one of the most gifted athletes in TWF and specializes in beating down much larger opponents. This contest will definitely be about stiff strikes and who can land more of them. As always Alex Morrow will be at his man’s side and he has had 5 1/2 years to observe Michael Nothing, allowing him to give insights about his opponent to Lockjaw.

Two more members of the Heavy Hitters asked for the same thing, a shot at the Television Title. Ron Rufio would love a chance to regain the belt he held proudly for over 6 months. Carnie Craig wants his first title shot ever. They will have to contend with the man that beat Rufio, Joey Balls, as well as current champion Scorpion. I have at times booked these multi-man matches as first pinfall, cutting down on the length and making the pinfall more meaningful. For this show and this match I decided to go back to traditional TWF rules, elimination. Joey Balls is in the worst position of the four. All three other competitors DESPISE him. Craig and Rufio are partners and who can say how their interaction in this match will play out? Rufio also had Scorpion in his corner during one of his matches with Balls and Anxiety. However, Rufio and Scorpion are both proud and will not go easier on each other in their attempts to win the 10 lbs. of gold we call the TV Title. Rufio and Scorpion have had some outrageous and bloody contests, most recently at Fired Up in Davis where they stole the show. Balls’ disadvantage could be evened out by the presence of his Million-Dollar Militia buddies, including the devious champion Ekstazy. Who has the edge? No one does.

I have had a tempestuous relationship with a large portion of the roster during my tenure as Commissioner. Even before I was Commissioner I had several run-ins with Sick Case, run-ins I wrote off the same as everyone else with a simple “Oh Sick Case is a bit unstable and gets angry.” That is complete and total bullshit. (Pardon my French) Sick Case is certainly unstable, but can no longer play the “he’s a good guy” bit that got him cheered for most of the last 5 years. He had his chance to win back the TWF Title and he couldn’t get the job done. I have given him every chance and he didn’t deliver. So instead of going back to the drawing board and trying to find a way to work his way back up the card, he is looking for a way to stack the deck in his favor. Johnny “Balla Ball” Williams called me out and gave a litany of reasons why I have been a failure as Commissioner. Was I being set up? Of course I was and I knew it. I didn’t have to accept his challenge, but I haven’t backed down to anyone and I wasn’t going to start now. I know that I can find someone that can beat Sick Case. There are a several people that would love to get their hands on the so-called King of Death and I have been weighing out whom I think has the best odds of getting the win. Nothing (Not Michael) is a sure bet in TWF and I know there is a chance, and a fairly good one, that this could be the end of my run as Commissioner. The last two years have been the proudest of my life and if it ends here I will be satisfied with what I accomplished, but I am not packing up my office just yet. Johnny Williams doesn’t know what I am capable of and I have the advantage of a mystery representative. One thing they should know about me by now, I know how to play hardball too.

Vortex and Ekstazy have clashed repeatedly and violently over the TWF World Heavyweight Title. With his win in TLC Vortex has earned an opportunity for one more match between these powerhouses. They have split almost evenly in their encounters so far over the last couple of years, whether it was for the Tag Team Titles in 2007 or the TWF Title all through 2008. They are as evenly matched as two competitors can be. Vortex is the fastest big man I have ever seen and Ekstazy is deceptively strong for a man of his size. Vortex will have The Heavy Hitters in his corner and The Million-Dollar Militia will back up Ekstazy. I am still reviewing their previous matches, both men’s strengths and weaknesses and the other stipulations they have been involved in. From I Quit to Last Man Standing to TLC, these two have almost done it all. When I am done wading my way through all the variables, I will pick a stipulation for these two that will rip the Colonial Theater off of its foundation and have the fans on their feet from start to finish. If this match ends up being the capper of my Commissionership, and even if it isn’t, I want people talking about this match years from now in the same reverential tones reserved for epics the level of the Hardcore Family vs. Asshole Inc. 8-man or G-Spot vs. Anthrax in barbed wire. I will cement my legacy, regardless of whether this is the end or not, and I will do it with two of the damn finest talents I have seen.

Until next time,
Commissioner Tara
